The development is like a small piece of town rather than a building.

The view from St Andrew’s Road up into the courtyard and through the development to the east side of Tidworth reinforces an important pedestrian route across the town. Another route, connects the family houses in the north with Tidworth’s main shopping street to the south. A new tower on Pennings Road Road, refers to Tidworth’s square turreted church tower to the West of the site, and creates an orienting landmark for people living in Tidworth as well as passers by.

The way the development mediates between the main road, the pedestrian connections across the site, and the domestic surroundings to the North and East, establishes a topographic conception which organises the whole project.
